Based on racing conditions and his running style, Sir Don is the top pick to claim the 17th King’s Plate title at Caymanas Park this afternoon, taking on 15 rivals over seven and a half furlongs (1,500m).

The three-year-old American-bred bay colt Sir Don is coming off a strong second-place finish behind Teflon Don at five furlongs (1,000m) on March 21, where he was slowly into stride and hindered at the furlong (200m) pole, finishing a length back in a quick 57.1 seconds.

Prior to that, Sir Don had racked up three consecutive wins before being beaten by then stablemate Prodigious Power at six furlongs (1,200m) on December 27. Trainer Anthony Nunes is confident in Sir Don’s abilities, retaining two-time defending champion jockey Raddesh Roman as the rider.

Given his class and talent, Sir Don (Spun to Run – Enamored) is expected to excel at this distance and secure the win.

Sir Don’s biggest challenges will come from American Aviator, Unbelievable Force, and
Mark My Identity.

The Overnight Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward is positioned as the ninth and final event on the day with a post time of 5:30 pm. The first race is at noon.

American Aviator is firing on all cylinders, coming off a seven-length win over seven furlongs (1,400m) on March 1 in 1:26.3. Jason DaCosta’s trainee should leverage his speed to make a bold bid, despite going a bit longer here.

Unbelievable Force returned from a six-month break and finished third over five furlongs on March 21. She’s expected to run well here, benefiting from her recent outing.

Mark My Identity has been consistent and is training sharp, galloping seven furlongs in 1:29.2 on March 22. He’s won over this distance before (1:33.1) and could upset the favourite if he reproduces that effort. These three will give Sir Don a tough challenge.
