Frazsiers Whip go after fifth-straight win in JWPL

MONTEGO BAY, St James — Defending champions Frazsiers Whip will go after a fifth-straight victory in the Jamaica Women’s Premier League, while Zone A leaders Arnett Gardens will seek to rebound after having their perfect record ended last week.

Frazsiers Whip travel to Jarrett Park in St James to face winless Real MoBay AFC in a Zone B game.

The title holders are coming off an 11-0 win over Mile Gully FC last weekend, and after beating Real MoBay AFC twice last season by a 16-1 aggregate, this afternoon’s game is expected to be another lopsided contest.

Real MoBay have got off to a slow start, losing a close opening game against Federal United. Things have not improved since as they have managed a single goal in their four losses.

Christine Salmon, the competition’s top scorer with seven goals, and Shanel Spence have combined for 13 goals so far. They are expected to present the Real MoBay AFC defence with endless problems in this clash.

Elsewhere, Arnett Gardens are set to play away to Proven Girls SC in a 1:00 pm start.

After being held 1-1 by Cavalier FC last week, Arnett Gardens will hope to get back to winning ways when they take on Proven Girls at York Sports Complex.

Proven Girls have drawn two of their three games and have only allowed three goals. But they have scored just once and Arnett Gardens should go into the game as favourites to win.

Arnett Gardens’ Shikira Douglas has got off to a fast start with five goals so far.

In Zone A, second place could be on the line when Cavalier take on Real Mona in the second game of a double header at Alpha Institute. Los Perfectos FC will go after a fourth-straight win when they take on Springers United at Brooks Park.

Cavalier are in second place on six points, despite scoring just four goals in four games. They are one point ahead of Real Mona who have scored 10 goals but have also allowed nine in four games.

Real Mona have scored eight of their 10 goals in the last two games, however, and could spring a surprise.

Los Perfectos have won their last three games after losing their opening game to Frazsiers Whip. On that winning run they have scored seven goals and have not conceded.

They are to host a Springers United team that won their first two games but then lost their next two. Los Perfectos will hope to extend their unbeaten run against the St James-based team.

Springers United had held Los Perfectos to a 1-1 result in their second meeting last season. Springers are enjoying their best start to a campaign despite the back-to-back losses.

Federal United will be seeking their first win over Mile Gully when they meet in the first game at Alpha Institute. Federal will be boosted by two wins in their first four outings.
