Frazsiers Whip, Los Perfectos kick off JWPL second round

Defending champions Frazsiers Whip FC will meet Los Perfectos FC in a Group B top-of-the-table clash at Brooks Park today as the second round of the Jamaica Women’s Premier League gets under way with a full slate of six games.

Frazsiers Whip, who won their first-round meeting 3-0, lead with a perfect 15 points from five wins, three more than Los Perfectos, who have won their last four games since losing their opener.

Also today, Group A leaders Arnett Gardens FC travel to face Real Mona FC in the first game of a double-header at Alpha Institute, while Federal United FC go after a third-straight win for the first time this season.

After a relatively slow start, Frazsiers Whip have exploded for 19 goals in their last two games and will face a Los Perfectos team that has conceded just one goal in their last four outings.

The competition’s top three scorers will be on show at Brooks Park, with Christine Salmon and Shanel Spence already combining for 20 goals for Frazsiers Whip, while Venicia Reid has scored nine of Los Perfectos’ 13 goals so far.

Arnett Gardens are off to a steady start and beat Real Mona 5-1 in their first-round meeting, but should face a stronger challenge today despite Shanae Ashley being away on international duty with the Reggae Girlz.

Arnett Gardens’ only blemish so far is a 1-1 draw against Cavalier, and they will hope Shakira Douglas and Sade Berry, their top scorers, can lead them to another win.

Cavalier will look to improve on their 1-1 draw against UWI Women’s FC in the first round when the teams meet in the second game of the double-header at Alpha today.

While Cavalier have stayed within touching distance of the leaders, UWI Women’s have lost their last three games and sit at the foot of the points table.

Federal United edged Real MoBay AFC 1-0 in their opening game, which saw six players – three from each team – sent off after a clash following the final whistle.

The St Catherine-based Federal are coming off back-to-back wins and will hope playing at home at Spanish Town Prison Oval gives them the edge again.

Real MoBay are the only team yet to earn a point and, after an 11-1 drubbing by Frazsiers Whip last weekend, must take their chances if they are to get anything from today’s game.

WiFi United FC, third in Group A, will hope to stay in semi-final contention when they host Proven Girls FC at Carder Park after beating them 2-0 in their first-round meeting.

Springers United SC will look to return to winning ways after losing their last three games when they take on Mile Gully FC at the Mile Gully Community Centre.

Springers won the first-round meeting 1-0 and will hope to get the better of the Manchester-based club again.
