Congratulations, Canon Reid!
Dear Editor,
Church Teachers’ College (CTC) Alumni Association extends heartfelt congratulations to the Very Reverend Canon Collin Reid (Batch 11) on his election as suffragan bishop of Montego Bay.
This is a moment of deep pride, not only for the 155th synod of the Anglican Church in Jamaica and the Cayman Islands, but also for the wider educational and alumni community of CTC. As a past student of our institution, Bishop-elect Reid embodies the values we seek to instil — faithful service, intellectual discipline, and a commitment to nation-building through ministry and leadership.
His tenure as rector of the cathedral has already demonstrated a steady pastoral presence, thoughtful preaching, and a capacity to engage meaningfully with both church and society. His elevation to the episcopate is, therefore, not only well deserved, but timely, as the church continues to navigate complex social and moral challenges within our Jamaican context.
For us at CTC, his journey is also a powerful reminder of the enduring role of teacher education in shaping leaders beyond the classroom. Our graduates do not serve only in schools; they serve in pulpits, communities, and national life — carrying with them a formation that integrates faith, learning, and service.
We celebrate this milestone with Bishop-elect Reid, his family, and the Diocese of Jamaica and the Cayman Islands. We assure him of our prayers as he prepares to assume this sacred office, trusting that his ministry will be marked by wisdom, courage, and a deepened commitment to the people of God.
May his episcopacy be one of grace, renewal, and faithful witness.
