Man killed by truck in Corporate Area
UP to press time on Monday the police had yet to release the identity of a man, people say was of unsound mind, who died after he was struck by a truck near the intersection of Waltham Park Road and Hagley Park Road in the Corporate Area.
The incident, which took place around 7:50 am, involved a white Freightliner truck.
Reports are that the truck was travelling along Waltham Park Road when the driver executed a left turn onto Hagley Park Road.
According to the police report, the driver was making the turn when he observed a male lying on the sidewalk and then he experienced unusual resistance from the rear of the vehicle.
The driver exited the vehicle to make checks when he found the man lying along the roadway.
The man was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
