Celebrating One Caribbean at the 2026 Sagicor Corporate Awards

Beyond the company’s success, the 2026 Sagicor Corporate Awards celebrated the spirit of resilience and a shared commitment to the years ahead. Last Wednesday, the Sagicor team converged on the ballroom of the Jamaica Pegasus, to salute the year’s high achievers.

Embracing the theme ‘One Caribbean: Where Legends Rise’, the décor was masterfully executed by Reasons and Seasons in tandem with Starlight Productions — complemented by state-of-the-art visuals from Phase 3 Productions, featuring two 65ft LED array screens and a curved screen onstage.

Following the playing of the National Anthem, the atmosphere was further uplifted by performances from gospel artistes Ranice Barnett, Carey Sayles, and Prodigal Son. Co-host Abigail Davis then took the stage to formally welcome guests, followed by opening remarks from Sagicor Group Jamaica Chairman Peter Melhado. He used the occasion to praise the organisation’s sense of togetherness even in the pursuit of personal excellence.

“Every time I come to these awards, I am always amazed at the incredible effort, but I think more profoundly, it’s how we are still so together. There is something about Sagicor. [What] makes it unique is that [while] we do well individually, we have a way of coming together that really sets us apart. It’s really quite extraordinary,” Melhado remarked.

Taking the stage next, President and CEO Christopher Zacca, wearing sunglasses, quipped that he needed them to handle the “shimmering” talent and outfits before him — a point he drove home by retrieving a pair from a briefcase. Adopting a more serious tone, Zacca then focused on the accomplishments of the honorees and the resilience displayed during Hurricane Melissa. He praised the staff for their dedication, observing that their mutual support was instrumental in navigating what he described as the defining moment of 2025.

“What happened was the embodiment of our mantra: One Sagicor. You checked in on each other, stepped in where you were needed, supported your clients beyond the ordinary and found ways to keep things going when it would have been easier to pause,” Zacca said. “That’s not something you can put neatly into a report or in the numbers, but it says everything about who we are.”

Following dinner, co-host Jennifer “Jenny Jenny” Small presided over the evening’s presentations. It was a landmark night for the Holborn Sagicor Branch. Financial Advisor Jheanel Dixon swept four categories, headlined by the Sagicor Group Highest Overall Achiever & Production Club Chairman award, in an emotional presentation shared with her son Jahdani. Meanwhile, the Holborn team was named Sagicor Life Branch of the Year, with Loeri Robinson taking home the Agency Manager of the Year.

Diversity in excellence was the theme of the remaining presentations. Sagicor Life Mandeville Executive Financial Advisor Junielle Owens secured the R Danny Williams trophy, while Operations Support Supervisor Chantal Smith was crowned Sagicor Financial Company Rookie of the Year. Recognitions also went to Assistant Manager – Facilities and Records Management Kirk Shaw (Contributor of the Year), and Assistant Manager, People Culture and Team Member Experience Shawna-Kay Dias-Chambers (Team Member of the Year). Rounding out the top prizes, the Dominica Drive Branch was named Sagicor Bank Branch of the Year and Non-Financial Risk Manager Von-Dane Lambert earned Manager of the Year honours.

Formalities concluded, it was now time for the Sagicor team to party alongside popular reggae artiste Romain Virgo, who captivated with a collection of hits, bringing a momentous celebration to a fitting close.
