WiFi seek JWPL win over Cavalier
WiFi United will be going after their first win over Cavalier FC when they meet this afternoon in a Jamaica Women’s Premier League Zone A return game at Carder Park in Portland.
Two points separate the teams as Cavalier are in second place on 12, while WiFi are third on 10, both trailing Zone A leaders Arnett Gardens (16).
Cavalier and WiFi have had similar results over their last three games — two wins and a draw. But Cavalier are yet to lose a game, while WiFi have been beaten twice.
Cavalier SC won the reverse fixture and will hope Tatyana Polack will be able to lead them to another victory.
Arnett Gardens will maintain their lead regardless of the results, but they could also increase the gap with a win over UWI Women’s FC who are at the foot of the table with one point.
In Zone B, defending champions Frazsiers Whip FC appear to be revving up their big engines, having scored 21 goals in their last three games. They scored 10 goals in the three games prior to that.
Federal United will have some confidence; however, as they are on their best-ever form in the competition. They have won their last three games, scoring seven of their total eight goals all season.
Los Perfectos will be hoping to rebound from last weekend’s loss to Frazsiers Whip when they take on Mile Gully. Los Perfectos beat Mile Gully 3-0 when they met earlier this season.
Venicia Reid has scored 10 of Los Perfectos’ 14 goals, and is expected to again lead their attack.
The St James derby could be interesting with Springers United winless in their last three games after winning their first two, while Real MoBay AFC have lost all six.
Springers will hope to restart a winning run, while Real MoBay are hunting their first win of the season.
All games are scheduled to begin either 1:00 pm or 1:30 pm to leave a window for fans to attend the Concacaf Qualifier between the Jamaica Reggae Girlz senior football team and Guyana at the National Stadium, starting at 7:00 pm.
