Seaforth High student killed in Morant Bay after schoolyard dispute escalates, three in custody
ST THOMAS, Jamaica — A student of Seaforth High School has been fatally stabbed following a dispute that began on the school’s compound and escalated into deadly violence in Morant Bay on Monday afternoon.
Commanding Officer for the St Thomas Division, Rohan Ritchie, confirmed that the incident unfolded between 2:30 pm and 3:00 pm near the Morant Bay Transport Centre, in the vicinity of Teen Hub, an internet café and research facility frequently used by students.
Speaking with the Jamaica Observer on Monday, DSP Ritchie said that the deceased and the main suspect are both students of the same institution and were involved in an earlier altercation on the school compound which later spilled off campus and into Morant Bay, where it turned fatal.
According to DSP Ritchie, preliminary reports indicate that the alleged attacker purchased a knife from a nearby establishment, on the spot, shortly before the confrontation and used it to inflict fatal injuries on the victim.
The injured student was rushed to the Princess Margaret Hospital, where he was pronounced dead sometime between 3:00 pm and 3:30 pm.
