Woman shot and injured after man disarms soldier at St Elizabeth party
ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica — Police are searching for a man who reportedly shot and injured a woman after he disarmed a Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) soldier at a party in Junction, St Elizabeth in the wee hours of Monday.
Police said the 25-year-old woman, believed to be the spouse of the man, has been hospitalised following the incident.
Preliminary reports suggest that the man was among a group of patrons at an event in Junction when there was an altercation between the man and the woman. Police said the man reportedly disarmed the JDF member, who is a licensed firearm holder, and used the soldier’s weapon to fire in the direction of the woman, hitting her.
Police said the licensed firearm was subsequently recovered and has since been seized while a search is presently underway to locate the suspect.
