Group B lead up for grabs in JFF Championships
THE lead in Group B of the Jamaica Football Federation Championships could be at stake today when Reno FC and Humble Lion resume their return-round game at Llandilo Sports Complex.
The teams were locked at 0-0 on April 4 when the game was called off due to a waterlogged field. It is one of three rescheduled matches set to be completed today.
The Group A return-round game between Meadforest FC and WiFi United at Bell Chung Oval will resume after just four minutes, after heavy rain and lightning forced that contest to be abandoned. Lime Hall Academy will also face Progressive FC at Drax Hall.
Humble Lion and Reno FC are tied on 23 points in second place, one point behind leaders Roaring River who have played 13 games — two more than both teams.
A win for either team would see them go to the top of the standings while a draw would be enough for Humble Lion to take the lead on goal difference.
Humble Lion are coming off a 5-2 win over STETHS Elite on Saturday, after losing 1-0 to Falmouth United earlier in the week. They also won the first-round meeting 5-0 when Reno FC were slow out of the blocks, but Reno have since emerged as contenders.
At Drax Hall, third-placed Lime Hall Academy (24 points) could move into second place in Group A, ahead of Tru-Juice FC, with a second win over Progressive after taking the first-round game 6-1.
WiFi United will also be aiming for a second win over Meadforest FC, having won their first meeting 3-0.
