Major Brandish gets personal on Love Again
Having been through heartbreak from a previous relationship, singer Major Brandish decided to share that experience on his latest single Love Again.
Produced by ShartyB Records, Love Again was released last month.
The track, said the artiste, is a song about an experience that I have been through and even others.
“I have been through hurt, but it doesn’t mean you will carry the hurt with you and let it turn into hate. Once the hurt turns into hate you will hate people and yourself,” he said, adding “As a young man growing up in the inner city, I learnt self-discipline and self-control. I also learnt self-love in the time of the hurt. Not everyone will have the opportunity to hurt you, some do come to love you and care for you, and you just do the same. Hurt is just an obstacle in life that many people sometimes face. I decided to learn to love myself through that I learnt to love again and that’s how I managed to get over the situation.”
Born Gladstone Brown and originally from Rockfort in east Kingston, Major Brandish has been doing music since 2008.
He told the Jamaica Observer recently that he isn’t afraid to share his emotions in music.
“Some entertainers don’t talk about their personal feelings; it’s not about courage it’s about who you are and being real. Ninety per cent of them go through it because they are human; they go through heartbreak too, and expressing it is good for the soul, and it frees you up,” Major Brandish reasoned.
He said that positive messages are what separate him from the pack.
“Major Brandish is here to maintain the real entertainment, reality, positive messages, and just fun in the music, the way that we know it to be,” he said.
A fan of the late Crown Prince of Reggae Dennis Brown, Major Brandish will pay homage to him when he performs at Legends of the Caribbean – A Tribute to Dennis Emmanuel Brown, which will take place on June 26 at the Meridian Theatre in Ottawa, Canada.
He reflected on Brown’s contribution to music.
“I know Dennis Emanuel Brown as the Crown Prince of Reggae, a household name from when I was a toddler. Bob Marley says he is his favourite singer, and Bob Marley is the king. Dennis Brown is all about love and our culture, it’s an honour to perform at the tribute event in Canada. When it comes to Dennis’s music, I don’t have one favourite but several,” he shared.
