itel strengthens cybersecurity framework amid rising global threats
AS cyber threats continue to escalate globally and digital transformation reshapes the business process outsourcing (BPO) sector, the Jamaican firm itel is reinforcing its cybersecurity posture to protect client data, systems, and operations in an increasingly complex threat environment.
According to founder and chairman of itel Yoni Epstein, with BPO providers handling vast volumes of sensitive customer and business information, the need for constant monitoring, continuous upgrades, and proactive threat management has never been more critical.
He said itel’s approach reflects this reality and treating cybersecurity as a dynamic, evolving discipline rather than a static requirement.
“At itel, security is not a destination it is a discipline,” said Epstein.
“The global threat landscape is constantly shifting and for BPOs like ours, the responsibility is even greater. We must ensure that every system, every connection, and every data exchange is continuously secured, tested, and strengthened. Our clients trust us with their operations and that trust must be protected at all times,” added Epstein
He pointed out that as cyberattacks become more sophisticated ranging from ransomware to zero-day exploits itel has implemented a defence-in-depth cybersecurity strategy designed to stay ahead of emerging risks.
This includes advanced network protection, real-time monitoring and continuous system validation across its entire technology environment.
Epstein added that at the network level, advanced security systems help protect against threats and keep data secure.
“Internal safeguards also ensure that systems remain separated, reducing risk if an issue occurs. These measures are continuously reviewed and updated to keep pace with evolving cyber threats and maintain strong protection.
“Recognising that vulnerabilities can emerge at any time, Itel maintains a rigorous vulnerability management and penetration testing program. Critical vulnerabilities are treated with urgency and resolved under strict response protocols,” Epstein said.
The itel head underscored that the company’s 24 hours/seven days a week monitoring through its security systems enables continuous visibility across its digital environment.
“Combined with advanced endpoint detection and response tools, this ensures that threats are identified, contained and neutralized in real time. itel’s approach reflects a broader industry shift, where cybersecurity is no longer optional but essential to business continuity and client confidence,” added Epstein as he pointed out that in a sector where downtime, data breaches, or service disruptions can have far-reaching consequences, resilience depends on both strong infrastructure and a culture of security.
“Our security programme is proactive, systematic, and continuously evolving. In today’s environment it’s not enough to react to threats. We must anticipate them, prepare for them and stay ahead of them. That is how we protect our clients and maintain the integrity of the services we provide,” declared Epstein.
He said as the global digital economy expands and cyber risks intensify, itel remains committed to investing in advanced technologies, strengthening its defenses, and ensuring that it continues to meet the highest standards of security in the BPO industry.
