Amaziyah The Great tracks Crime and Violence
International recording artiste, poet/author, and multi-award-winning Jamaican film-maker Craig “Amaziyah The Great” Kirkland has released a new single dubbed Crime and Violence on various digital platforms.
“When I see the struggles my parents encountered; my children Ny Ashia and Ajani crying, my associates, and my friends [who are] talented but not much employment or source of money [with] multiple bills owed, I decided that I will make that change to prosperity.” Kirkland said.
The stage has never been a strange place for the entertainer. While he was in Jamaica, he performed a lot in his community Frazer’s Content in Spanish Town, St Catherine, as well as GT Taylor’s Reggae Christmas Extravaganza, Yasus Afari’s Poetry Festival, and others. Overseas, he performed at Pawtucket Poetry — where he found his wife Lori — Boston Jerk Fest is Massachusetts, among other states.
All that hard work is finally paying off as he now earned his third nomination at the International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA). In 2025 he was nominated for the National Spoken Word Awards in Chicago.
“Right now, the focus is on putting in some more songs and poetry recordings…for a global fan base to enjoy, especially the ones on TikTok, who also fuel my fire. I [want to] come to Jamaica and connect with the people to re-establish myself again to let them know what time it is… More releases coming out on my production Great Amazement Multimedia Entertainment LLC… Distrokid [is] doing the distribution, and I also signed up with BMI for publishing. More greatness is yet to come. I’m just asking Jamaicans in the Diaspora to support true, authentic, and talented creatives and don’t sleep on them,” he said.
