Second man charged in connection with murder of 72-y-o St Ann retiree
ST ANN, Jamaica — A second man from Clarendon has been charged in connection with the 2024 murder of 72-year-old Allan Rattigan at his home in Pyramid Point, Ocho Rios, St Ann.
The accused has been identified as 23-year-old Ashan Gallimore of Rectory Road, May Pen, Clarendon.
According to reports from the St Ann’s Bay police, around 10:00 pm on Monday, November 18, 2024, Rattigan’s caregiver discovered him at his home with his hands and feet bound.
The police were summoned, and Rattigan was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigations later revealed that Rattigan had invited Gallimore and four other men to his home before the incident.
During the visit, an alleged dispute developed, and Rattigan was reportedly strangled.
Police said an undetermined quantity of jewellery, shoes and a black cellular phone belonging to the deceased was stolen during the incident.
Gallimore was later arrested and charged after investigators reportedly obtained a recorded statement implicating him in the crime.
He is scheduled to appear before the court on Friday, October 9.
Another man, 23-year-old Malik Hepburn of Bucknor, Clarendon, was also charged last year in connection with Rattigan’s murder.
