Man and woman charged after allegedly attempting to smuggle cigarettes in Annotto Bay lock-up
ANNOTTO BAY, St Mary—A 19-year-old hairstylist and a 30-year-old construction worker were arrested and charged on Tuesday after allegedly attempting to smuggle contraband into the Annotto Bay police lock-up.
Police reports indicate that lawmen on the compound of the Annotto Bay police station observed suspicious activities involving the two individuals. While investigating, inmates were seen pulling an item through a cell window.
The item reportedly fell to the ground and was found to be a transparent plastic bag containing six cigarettes.
The two, Ikyalia Richards of a Heywood Hall, St Mary and Exchange St Ann addresses, and Romero Forbes of an Ebony Hall Highgate address, were subsequently arrested and charged.
A third suspect fled the scene and is being sought by the police.
The Annotto Bay are investigating.
