Italian Taxi 109 band delivers new reggae track
Taxi 109’s new single is out, and it has a lot to do with the British Isles.
Recorded in English, the genre is reminiscent of Jamaican reggae bands transplanted to Great Britain.
Most importantly, the mixing was entrusted to Gaudi, who also co-produced the song, which was recorded at his Metatron Studio in London, where he also created a dub version.
It’s no coincidence that Gaudi also produced Steel Pulse’s 2019 Grammy-nominated album Mass Manipulation, among other releases.
Taxi 109, always independent, is releasing this track which will be available on all social media starting May 15, 2026, with a video version to follow.
The single’s sound is strong and firmly embraces the classic roots-reggae genre. The arrangements enrich the piece with many small details that will be appreciated upon listening to both the original track and the dub version.
Orange Sushi Market aims to recount the story of a childhood friendship. Here, the individual’s strengths, but even more so his bad habits, emerge forcefully. Bad habits that, instead of breaking a solid relationship, strangely coexist and strengthen it despite everything.
“If you cheat, you can’t break my harmony,” said Fabio Junia Bonaldo, the song’s author.
This track finally paves the way for the band’s new and eagerly awaited album, which won’t be released before the end of the year.
Bonaldo, who founded the band in 2000, continues the experience he began with Rasta Family in 1992.
The band’s members on this track are Luca Joss Viani (guitar); Umberto Nocera (bass); Vittorio De Angelis (drums); Franz Damiani (sax) — he also wrote the central horn section and the riff arrangements; Gino Canini (trumpet); and Fabio Junia Bonaldo (vocals and backing vocals).
The piano parts and additional backing vocals are by Gaudi.
The vocals were recorded by Cristiano Santini at Morphing Studio in Bologna.
Ismaele Tara handled the mastering at Floor Kitchen studio in Anzio.
