Denam deals with Depression
As the title of his latest song suggests, Denam was in a dark place when he decided to write and record Depression. It is inspired by personal experience close to home.
The singjay also produced the single which was released in January by his 1Denam Music company.
“It is s based on betrayal from friends and family that I let get close to me; I almost lost my life,” said Denam, who added that Depression is meant for people who have been in similar situations.
He notes that he has always had a determination to achieve despite being raised in tough circumstances.
“I’m from Raymonds in Hayes, one of the most violent communities in Clarendon. My desire was always to make it out and make something of myself,” Denam revealed. “I am still on that journey with this song.”
That musical journey was spurred by Bounty Killer, the self-proclaimed “Poor People Governor”, whose songs about urban life had a strong influence on Denam.
He began his recording career 10 years ago, and has since released songs such as Blessing.
