Los Perfectos eager to settle unfinished business
The Manchester-based Los Perfectos FC are back on the semi-final stage with a clear message. After falling at this exact stage last season to eventual champions Frazsiers Whip, Los Perfectos have returned with unfinished business on their mind and a burning desire to go further.
They navigated another competitive Jamaica Women’s Premier League (JWPL) season, tallying 24 points, six less than their old foes to finish second in Zone B and secure their place in the final four, where they will meet Arnett Gardens at 3:00 pm on Saturday at the JFF/Captain Horace Burrell Centre of Excellence.
Assistant coach and former Reggae Girl Sashana Campbell made her team’s intentions clear from the outset.
“Being back in the semi-finals shows the work the group has put in, but we’re not satisfied with just getting here. Our ambition is to win the league, and that starts with taking care of business in the semi-finals,” Campbell said. “At the same time, we’re focused on developing the young players in our squad so they leave better than they came in and also with opportunities to play at the collegiate level or in the national set-up.”
The double focus on winning and development has shaped Los Perfectos’ approach throughout the season.
Campbell noted that while the journey was not without its challenges, the squad remained committed.
“In terms of preparation, this season we somewhat made strides in getting a few more training sessions compared to last season. We had a few hiccups along the way, however, I think we accomplished most of our objectives thus far. For the most part, players are committed to getting the job done and we are grateful for the journey.”
Technical Director Johnoy Chambers acknowledged the improved standard of the league as a key driver of the club’s growth this season.
“Playing against stronger teams has raised the mentality and overall quality within Los Perfectos FC. The improved standard has pushed our players to become more disciplined, focused, and confident every week,” Chambers said, also extending gratitude to the JFF, the JWPL, and club sponsors the James Family Group of Business and Superior Realtors.
With a consistent run of form in the women’s league, Chambers shared the recipe for their success.
“Our success has come from hard work, unity, proper preparation, and belief in the process. The players and staff have stayed committed all season.”
