Olympian Sabrina Lyn headlines Tornadoes High-Performance Swim Meet
Jamaica’s top swimmers and regional competitors are set to converge at the National Aquatic Centre from May 22–24, 2026, for the Tornadoes High-Performance Swim Meet. The premier three-day competition is designed to showcase elite talent, foster athlete development, and provide a key qualifying opportunity for international events.
Headlining the meet is Olympian Sabrina Lyn, whose participation is expected to raise the competitive intensity of the event and inspire the next generation of Jamaican swimmers.
Lyn will compete alongside many of Jamaica’s leading youth, junior, and senior athletes in what promises to be one of the most exciting local swim meets of the season.
Hosted by the Kingston-based Tornadoes Swim Club, the meet is expected to attract approximately 10 clubs and regional delegations, creating a high-level racing environment for athletes preparing for upcoming regional and international championships, including events along the Pan American age group pathway.
Sanctioned by the Aquatic Sports Association of Jamaica, the competition will uphold national performance standards, while offering swimmers valuable opportunities to achieve qualifying times and benchmark performances against regional competitors.
The meet programme will feature youth, junior, and senior events, masters competition, relay events, sprint and distance races across multiple disciplines.
The event is designed not only to highlight elite competition, but also to strengthen the development pathway for swimmers at every level of the sport.
According to Club President Wendy Lee, the meet plays an important role in the growth of the sport locally.
“The Tornadoes High-Performance Swim Meet continues to play a critical role in developing competitive swimming in Jamaica. It provides our athletes with the opportunity to compete in a high-performance environment, while measuring themselves against strong regional and international standards. We are especially excited to welcome Olympian Sabrina Lyn, whose presence will undoubtedly inspire younger swimmers and elevate the overall standard of competition,” said Lyn.
The competition will commence at 5:30 pm on Friday, May 22 and 8:30 am and 4:00 pm on Saturday, May 23. On the final day competition action will begin at 9:00 am. Organisers have announced that season passes will cost $2,300, granting spectators full access to all competition sessions throughout the meet.
