T&T prodigy set for Plié for the Arts Youth Gala
On May 30 and 31, Plié for the Arts’ 2026 Youth Gala will showcase the next generation of stars.
Under the theme ‘A Whole New World’, members of the Plié Youth Academy will stage an evening of dance, drama and song at Little Theatre.
This year, for the first time, the Youth Gala will feature a remarkable young performer from Trinidad & Tobago, who has taken his country and the region by storm with electrifying performances and stagecraft well beyond his years.
Eight-year-old Angelo Gore earned second place in Machel Montano’s online ‘Give Dem Performance’ competition and the chance to share the stage with the soca icon while performing the 2026 hit Encore.
Once he stepped into the spotlight, it was clear that, although he did not take the top prize, he had already won the hearts of audiences.
Angelo Gore’s parents shared that he has been singing since he was two years old, often putting on performances for family members; but the Savannah stage was different.
Just before going on stage, Angelo, who is from Chaguanas, offered his mother a calm reassurance: “Mommy, don’t worry yourself, I have this.”
Online, Angelo’s story and performance became one of the standout moments of Trinidad & Tobago’s 2026 Carnival season.
“Plié for the Arts is expanding its vision to bring the best talent together from across the Caribbean, and that includes the region’s youth,” said Marisa Benain, founder and artistic director of Plié for the Arts.
Jamaican audiences will now have the chance to see him perform alongside some of the island’s brightest young talent.
‘A Whole New World’ promises an evening of standout performances as exceptional stars, ages four to 16, from Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago shine together.
