It’s been So Phenomenal

Producer Gutty Bling says Skillibeng, Kartel, Stefflon Don collab has crossover potential

Jamaican producer Gutty Bling readily admits that when Skillibeng first voiced the single
So Phenomenal he could hear Vybz Kartel adding more energy to an already impressive track. So when official talks of a remix arose, the creative already knew exactly who to call.

Throw Stefflon Don, another renowned star into the mix, and Gutty Bling has conjured up what many fans are already calling one of the most exciting dancehall collaborations of the year.

“The first day Skilli voiced the So Phenomenal song I heard Kartel on it because I know what he brings to the table. He’s the King of Dancehall and Worl’ Boss for a reason,” he told the Jamaica Observer’s Splash. “So when I was on the phone with Skilli talking about the remix, he agreed Kartel would be the best addition. I reached out to Skatta and told him that Skilli wanted a verse from the Worl’ Boss and the rest is history. His verse speaks for itself and he completely ‘destroyed’ it.”

While the dream collaboration he had in mind had materialised, the producer said he wanted to kick things up a notch by adding a female voice. He said his idea to incorporate Stefflon Don on the remix was fuelled by his need to simply ‘go hard and done’.

“Kartel, Skillibeng and Stefflon Don on a track? That is next-level dancehall. All three entertainers have crossover appeal and are hugely successful in their solo careers. I just wanted to go hard and done and so, after we got Kartel verse, I reached out to Stefflon Don’s team and they were excited as well to be on the So Phenomenal Remix,” he said. “I always think beyond Jamaica, and with all three entertainers on this track being big internationally also, I know this song is going to transcend borders.”

The star power surrounding the remix has so far dominated conversations online — a sign of things to come. But while the track’s success will be good for the entertainers, the producer admits it will do far more for his career.

Outlining that he’s grown tremendously in his field, Gutty Bling says he hopes this single will silence naysayers.

“This means a lot for me and signals growth in my musical journey. I have to thank God for this opportunity and thank all three artistes for making it possible, because I’m getting a lot of calls, texts, and great feedback from fans, friends, and my families. It’s a wonderful feeling,” he said. “I just can’t wait to see all the doors that open from this single right here.”

With momentum surrounding the remix continuing to build, Gutty Bling also revealed plans to expand the project further through a So Phenomenal Riddim, which he says will feature a small juggling built around the track’s production.
