Pablo Hoilett returns with hilarious new comedy
Veteran theatre producer and director Pablo Hoilett is gearing up to deliver another major dose of laughter with his brand-new comedy production
Brazen to di Bone.
Chock-full of artistic talent, the fast-paced comedy features a lively cast including Chris “Johnny” Daley, Donald “Slashie” Anderson, Peter “Maestro” Heslop, and Joan “Kenzie” McKenzie.
Hoilett said the play is designed, first and foremost, to entertain.
“Jamaican audiences appreciate comedy that feels real and familiar, and this play is packed with the kind of characters and situations we all recognise,” he said. “We wanted to create a production that allows people to forget their stress for a few hours and simply enjoy themselves. Brazen to di Bone does just that.”
The play follows the outrageous antics of Alrick Smith, a man who creates an elaborate web of bogus characters in order to collect government benefits and maintain a comfortable, work-free lifestyle. Things begin to spiral out of control when a government representative arrives to investigate the suspiciously high number of benefit claims linked to his address. This triggers a whirlwind of deception, confusion, and hilarity.
For decades Hoilett has remained one of Jamaican theatre’s respected creative forces, producing and directing numerous successful productions while helping to elevate local comedic storytelling.
Brazen to di Bone opens on June 5 at Courtleigh Auditorium.
