2026 Nominee For Best (New) Local Product: Camgar Gourmet Coffee Syrup

Camgar Farm Limited

Principal: Garfield Clarke, CEO

History of the company

Camgar Farm Limited is a Jamaican agro-processing company specialising in the development of innovative, value-added coffee products that showcase the richness and versatility of Jamaican agriculture. Founded by Garfield Clarke, the company was established with the vision of transforming locally grown coffee into premium gourmet products capable of competing in both domestic and international markets. The company’s journey began in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, although commercial sales officially commenced in July 2023. Initially, Clarke focused on revitalising a small coffee farm in the Wallenford area with the aim of creating a sustainable agricultural enterprise. Following early operational challenges and the dissolution of a partnership arrangement, the business strategically shifted toward value-added product development using Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee as the foundation for innovation. This transition led to the creation of Camgar Farm’s flagship line of specialty coffee-based products. Today, the company offers a growing portfolio of unique products, including Sweet & Spicy Coffee Jelly, Gourmet Coffee Syrup, Coffee Breadfruit Punch, and Coffee Jackass Corn. These products combine authentic Jamaican flavours with modern food innovation, providing consumers with new and distinctive ways to experience Jamaican coffee beyond the traditional beverage format.

Product Portfolio

Camgar Farm’s current product line includes:

• Gourmet Coffee Syrup

• Sweet & Spicy Coffee Jelly

• Coffee Breadfruit Punch

• Coffee Jackass Corn

Raw Material Sourcing

The company sources its ingredients primarily from local Jamaican farmers and suppliers, with a strong emphasis on supporting domestic agriculture and utilising authentic Jamaican raw materials wherever possible.

Market Presence and Distribution

Camgar Farm products are currently distributed through a growing network of supermarkets, specialty food stores, pharmacies, agro-marts, and distributors across Jamaica. Retail outlets include: Hi-Lo Food Stores (Portmore, Pavilion, Liguanea, Barbican, and Manor Park), General Foods, Loshusan Supermarket, Fresh Approach Foods, Grand Depot Ltd. Lee’s Food Fair, Progressive Foods, RADA Agro-Marts and Alchemist Pharmacy. The company has also partnered with Frozen Delight Distributor (FDD) to strengthen nationwide distribution and market expansion efforts.

Key Milestones and Achievements

A major breakthrough occurred in February 2024 when Camgar Farm participated in the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce (MIIC) Road Show and Pitch Competition, where the company was selected as a recipient. This opportunity provided significant exposure and validated the company’s innovative approach to value-added coffee products.

Another important milestone was achieved in June 2024 when Camgar Farm received a nomination in the “Best New Product” category at the Jamaica Observer Table Talk Food Awards. This recognition further strengthened the company’s credibility and visibility within Jamaica’s agro-processing and food manufacturing sector. The company’s Gourmet Coffee Syrup officially became available to the public in July 2025.

Target Market

Camgar Farm’s core customers include: Gourmet and specialty food consumers, tourists, members of the Jamaican Diaspora, consumers seeking unique Jamaican-made products and individuals interested in premium value-added food experiences.

Customer Response and Market Reception

Consumer response to the products has been highly encouraging. Customers have expressed strong appreciation for the uniqueness, flavour profiles, and creativity of the offerings. The products have also generated interest from both local and international buyers.

Competitive Advantage

Camgar Farm’s products stand out because they combine innovation, authentic Jamaican flavours, premium quality, and a distinctive coffee-based gourmet experience. This unique positioning differentiates the brand within the local and regional market.

Growth and Expansion Plans

The company aims to grow into a leading Jamaican value-added coffee brand with strong regional and international distribution while continuing to develop innovative and novel agro-processed products.

Challenges and Constraints

One of the company’s primary challenges is scaling production while maintaining product consistency, managing operational costs, and securing the resources necessary to support business growth and export expansion. Raw material inventory management also remains a significant challenge due to seasonal availability, fluctuating supply conditions, and the need to maintain stable production schedules.

Lessons Learned

Reflecting on the company’s journey, Clarke noted that earlier investment in branding, production systems, and strategic partnerships could have accelerated the company’s growth and market development.

Why Jamaicans Should Support Camgar Farm

Camgar Farm represents local innovation, value-added agriculture, entrepreneurship, and the transformation of Jamaican raw materials into world-class products. Supporting the brand also means supporting Jamaican farmers and strengthening the local agricultural economy.

Post-Hurricane Melissa Message

Hurricane Melissa reinforced the importance of strengthening Jamaica’s food security and supporting local agriculture. By investing in local farmers, agro-processing, and Jamaican-made products, the country can build a more sustainable, resilient, and economically beneficial food ecosystem for future generations.
