Libresse marks World Menstrual Hygiene Day with donations to needy women

FACEY Pharmaceutical, through its feminine care brand Libresse, commemorated World Menstrual Hygiene Day by supporting two organisations serving vulnerable girls and women, helping to improve access to menstrual hygiene products while encouraging conversations around confidence, dignity, and well-being.

As part of the initiative, Libresse donated care packages containing sanitary napkins to residents of the Maxfield Park Children’s Home and the Women’s Resource and Outreach Centre (WROC), organisations which play critical roles in supporting girls and women through various stages of their lives.

Observed annually on May 28, World Menstrual Hygiene Day seeks to increase awareness surrounding menstrual health, reduce stigma, and improve access to menstrual hygiene products.

The global observance also highlights the importance of ensuring that menstruation never becomes a barrier to education, opportunity, confidence, or participation in everyday life.

For Josh-Ray Green, brand manager for Libresse, the initiative reflects the brand’s ongoing commitment to supporting women and girls beyond the products themselves.

“At Libresse, we believe that every girl and woman deserves to navigate her period with confidence and dignity,” said Green.

“World Menstrual Hygiene Day provides an important opportunity to address the realities many women face and to support organisations that are creating meaningful impact in their communities. Through these donations, we hope to contribute in a small but meaningful way to the comfort, confidence, and well-being of the girls and women being served,” added Green.

He said the donations form part of Libresse’s wider commitment to supporting women and girls through initiatives that promote confidence, empowerment, and access to essential care products.

At Maxfield Park Children’s Home the donation was welcomed as a practical gesture that helps meet an ongoing need for the girls in the facility.

“Menstrual hygiene products are among the everyday essentials that our girls require throughout the year,” said Karen Dawkins, administrative assistant at the children’s home.

“Support from partners like Facey Pharmaceutical helps us continue providing for their needs while also reinforcing the message that menstruation is a normal and healthy part of life that should never be associated with shame or embarrassment,” added Dawkins.

WROC, which supports women and girls through advocacy, education, and empowerment programmes, also underscored the importance of improving access to menstrual care products.

“Access to menstrual hygiene products is closely linked to dignity, health, and confidence,” said Christine Senior-Harper, senior administrator WROC.

“For many women and girls, these products are not always easily accessible. Initiatives like this help remove barriers while creating opportunities for more open and supportive conversations around menstrual health,” Senior-Harper noted.
