Sts Peter and Paul take early lead at Prep Champs

Sts Peter and Paul take early lead at Prep Champs

TWO-TIME champions Sts Peter and Paul took an early lead in the team standings after the first two finals on the opening day of the JISA/GKGI/GK Mutual Funds Prep Champs at the National Stadium on Wednesday.

Sts Peter and Paul lead with 13 points, ahead of Our Lady of the Angels on 11.5 and Hydel Prep on 11. Mona Prep are fourth with nine points, while Immaculate Prep round out the top five on seven.

Morris Knibb are sixth on 6.5 points, followed by St Andrew Prep with four, while Stella Maris, Lannaman’s and Emmanuel Christian Academy all have three points.

Nikolai Brown of Sts Peter and Paul won the Boys’ Class Two high jump with 1.40m to earn nine points for his school, while teammate Kejaun Hinds was fifth with 1.25m as they combined for 13 points. Yackovenco Henry of Our Lady of the Angels and Milano Wright of Morris Knibb shared second place after both cleared 1.35m.

Leila Bell of Mona Prep captured the Girls’ Class Two high jump title with 1.30m, while Paris-Saige Tulloch of Immaculate Prep was second with 1.25m.

On the track, Jahvin James of Emmanuel Christian Academy led the Boys’ Class One 400m qualifiers with 1:01.44 minutes. Gyasi Hutchinson of Sts Peter and Paul was next best with 1:02.33, while Jordan Fletcher of Ardenne Prep qualified third-fastest with 1:03.01.

Taharia Mitchell of Vaz Prep topped the Girls’ Class One 300m qualifiers after clocking 45.31 seconds. Mount St Joseph’s Adriannah Bailey (45.47) and Kenelia Williams (45.75) were the next fastest heading into the final.

Sts Peter and Paul’s Shaneika Shann led the Girls’ Class Two long jump qualifiers with 4.40m. Mount St Joseph’s Khariah Perat was second with 4.24m, while Naveah Johnson of Our Lady of the Angels qualified third with 3.93m.

Madison Gayle of Mount St Joseph headed the Girls’ Class One long jump field with 4.24m. Stella Maris’s Maia Campbell was second with 4.20m and Mahalia Clarke of Lannaman’s Prep was third with 4.09m.

Paris White of Stella Maris was the fastest qualifier for the Girls’ Class One 100m final after clocking 13.33 seconds. Hydel Prep’s Jah’Moira Fisher was second quickest with 13.93, while Sts Peter and Paul’s Parison Mullings qualified third in 13.97.

In the Boys’ Class One 100m, Dadrique Mebourne of Belair Prep led all qualifiers with 13.10 seconds. Gabriel Johnson of Lannaman’s Prep was second fastest with 13.22, while Portmore Missionary’s Tyler Osbourne qualified third with 13.25.
