Audrey Marks reacquires Digicel’s 80 per cent stake in Paymaster parent
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Paymaster founder Audrey Marks has reacquired Digicel’s 80 per cent stake in APM Holdings Limited, returning control of the payment services company’s parent to its original owner.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Paymaster said the deal completed discussions that began in 2024, before Marks assumed her current roles as minister of efficiency, innovation and digital transformation and member of parliament for Manchester North Eastern.
Marks founded Paymaster in 1997. The company provides bill-payment and other transaction services to individuals, businesses and government entities through a network of locations across Jamaica.
“This transaction allows the company to build on its strong foundation while positioning for future growth opportunities in an increasingly technology-driven environment,” Marks said in a statement.
Paymaster said it will bring in strategic management support because of Marks’ public responsibilities. The arrangement is expected to provide operational oversight, strengthen governance and guide the company’s planned modernisation.
The company said its day-to-day operations would continue without interruption and that customers, billers, agents and other partners should not experience changes to existing services.
Paymaster also thanked Digicel for its partnership. The release did not provide details about the company’s investment plans, management structure or timetable for its proposed transformation.
