Williams, Tracey seek sharpness in LA
WORLD Championships 100m hurdles gold medallist Danielle Williams and national women’s 1500m record holder Adelle Tracey will continue their preparations for the Jamaica National Championships when they compete at the USATF LA Grand Prix at Allyson Felix Field today.
Williams, Tracey and shot putter Rajindra Campbell are among the Jamaicans entered in the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold meet, which concludes today.
Williams will line up in a strong 100m hurdles field that includes world leader Masai Russell of the United States, former world record holder Kendra Harrison, Tonea Marshall, and France’s Cyrena Samba-Mayela.
Tracey will contest the 1500m outdoors for the second time this season and will be aiming to improve on her season’s best 4:07.32 ahead of the national championships.
She faces Ethiopia’s Worknesh Mesele and Saron Berhe, American Emily MacKay, and Lithuania’s Gabija Galvydyte.
Campbell, who improved his national shot put record earlier this year, is also expected to be among the contenders. His rivals include Americans Joe Kovacs, Roger Steen and Jordan Geist.
