Performers gear up for Powerful Women and Men charity show on June 21
KINGSTON, Jamaica — More than 45 of Jamaica’s leaders from politics, civil society and the private sector are now in rehearsals as they prepare for the fundraising production “Powerful Women and Men Perform for Charity”, set for Sunday, June 21, at 7:00 pm at the Jamaica College Auditorium.
Founded by Thyra Heaven, the annual showcase has raised more than $80 million over the years for Mustard Seed Communities, which provides care for over 500 abandoned children living with disabilities and HIV.
“The quality of talent is exceptional so I expect the event to be as inspiring as it will be entertaining. The line-up makes for a fitting return of the show and an excellent tribute to Father’s Day,” said Ewan Simpson, musical director for the show.
Simpson noted that the energy during rehearsals has been high and the camaraderie among participants remarkable. In fact, he noted that the performers have been fully supportive of each other as they continue to sharpen their skills.
Among the first-time performers confirmed for this year’s show are Leader of the Opposition Mark Golding; Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett; Miss Jamaica World 2026 Nevaeh Allen; Opposition Spokesperson on Culture Nikeisha Burchell; and Karen Booker, popular interior designer and radio host.
They will be joined by returning performers including Speaker of the House Juliet Holness; Commissioner of the Independent Commission of Investigations (Indecom) Hugh Faulkner; and Cordel Green, the executive director of the Broadcasting Commission and executive producer of the show.
Tickets are available at Fontana Pharmacy locations in Loshusan (Barbican Centre), Sovereign Centre, Tropical Plaza, Sovereign Village (Portmore), and Fairview (Montego Bay). Online tickets can be purchased at touchstonelink.com.
Jamaicans in the diaspora, as well as persons unable to attend in person, will be able to watch the show via pay-per-view through the Alive Podcast Network.
Admission is $4,000 for adults and $2,000 for children under 12.
