UTech’s Dominic Williams leads qualifiers for men’s 100m at trials
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Dominic Williams of the University of Technology (UTech) led the qualifying in the men’s 100m for Thursday’s first round of the JAAA National Senior and Junior Championships at the National Stadium.
The top 26 men based on their times at the deadline for entries were accepted for the first round and they will be joined by the top seven from the 45 men who were drawn in the qualifying round.
Williams won heat five with 10.31 seconds (-0.7m/s) and will be joined by Ramone Barnswell of MVP and Jeevan Newby of UTech, who were both timed at 10.33 seconds (-2.5m/s) in heat four.
Another UTech runner, De’jaun Strachan, who ran 10.39 seconds (-0.7m/s), also advanced, as well as Mario Williams of MVP, Kyle Richards of MVP and Javoy Tucker of Titans TC.
The first round will start at 6:10 pm.
