DaCosta’s dominance
…4-win explosion stamps his class on Saturday race card
Four-time defending champion trainer Jason DaCosta did what champions do on Saturday, June 13, 2026. He did saddle four winners at Caymanas Park and did steal the spotlight.
Novio, Formalist, Chocomo, and Maverick did the talking, and the rest of the barns did not have an answer.
DaCosta did remind everyone why he wears the crown. Four wins on one card is not luck, it’s class, preparation, and execution.
Novio made the perfect start as three three-year-old American-bred chestnut colt by
Goldencents did come from behind runners to win a $1.1-million Restricted Allowance II over 6 furlongs (1,200m).

With Tevin Foster up, Novio did beat Iam Who I Am and Manoletti Majestic by a neck in 1:13.0. Fractions of 23.1, 46.3, 59.3 said it was fast, but Novio did find more late, a winning debut on local soil.
Formalist made it three straight. The four-year-old by Bold Conquest did demolish a Restricted Allowance IV contest over 5 furlongs (1,000m) straight. Robert Halledeen did have him in cruise control, winning by 4 lengths over
Margarita and Prince Kazaire in 1:00.4. Split times were 23.4, 47.4.

Chocomo made it look easy. The five-year-old American-bred did drop into a $1.5m-$1.2m claiming over 5 furlongs straight and did win by 3 ¼ lengths. Halledeen did get a second winner for the barn as Chocomo beat Dream to Reality and Taurus Boy in 1:01.0. When DaCosta drops one in for a tag and it does that, you know the horse did come to hand perfectly.
Maverick announced his arrival. The three-year-old by Aveenu Malcainu did make one move and did blow away a maiden special weight field over 6 furlongs. Aaron Chatrie did sit cold, then asked, and Maverick did respond with 6 ¼ lengths to spare over Jayden’s Choice and Wah A Gwan in 1:13.0.
