Christopher Taylor and Adrian Kerr among 200m semifinal qualifiers
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Two of last year’s top three finishers in the men’s 200m at the JAAA national championships made easy progress to the next round of this year’s event after first round heats on Saturday morning.
Christopher Taylor and Adrian Kerr, who were second and third respectively last year, booked their spots in the semi-finals set for later Saturday.
Taylor ran a season’s best 20.52 seconds (-0.1m/s) and Kerr was clocked in 20.85 seconds (0.1m/s).
Former 400m hurdles champion and World Athletics Championships finalist Roshawn Clarke also advanced along with Tyquendo Tracey.
Jevaughn Powell led the qualifying after running 20.39 seconds (-0.1m/s), followed by Kadrian Goldson who ran 20.56 seconds (0.7m/s) and Clarke, 20.58 seconds (0.0m/s).
Mark Anthony Daley won his first round heat in 20.68 seconds (1.5m/s) ahead of Shakur Williams, 20.76 seconds (1.5m/s), and Shaemar Uter, 21.00 seconds (0.8m/s).
