Lloydricia Cameron wins first shot put title after six runner-up finishes
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Lloydricia Cameron won her first national women’s shot put title on Saturday at the National Stadium, after being runner up six straight times.
Cameron threw 17.57m at the JAAA National Championships to take the crown. She had finished behind national record holder Danniel Thomas-Dodd in 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and again last year.
The US-born former University of Florida thrower, who is now based in Kingston, will hope to improve on her fourth place performance at the 2022 Commonwealth Games later this year.
Kimeka Smith of Clemson University was second with 16.03m, with Britannie Johnson of Purdue third with 15.55m.
