Ozarii set to celebrate fatherhood with new single
Jamaican reggae and dancehall artiste Ozarii is preparing to shine a spotlight on fatherhood with the release of his upcoming single As A Father.
Scheduled to be released on Father’s Day as part of the Jailhouse Set Me Free Riddim Vol 2 project, it is produced by Ralston Barrett.
Born and raised in Franklin Town, Kingston 16, the entertainer wears many hats. In addition to being a recording artiste, Ozarii is an entrepreneur, teacher, husband, father, and motivational speaker. He is also the owner of Hirie Feet Sandals JA.
Despite many responsibilities, music has remained a constant passion throughout his life.
“I first fell in love with music at about nine years old after listening to Teddy Pendergrass,” Ozarii shared. “From that moment I became fascinated with singing and eventually started writing songs, recording, and performing.”
Influenced by musical greats such as Sam Cooke, Teddy Pendergrass, Bob Marley, and Sizzla Kalonji, Ozarii has developed a versatile sound that blends reggae, dancehall, pop, reggaeton, and Afrobeats.
His forthcoming single, As A Father, is one of his most personal recordings to date. The song was inspired by his determination to become the father he never had.
“My father was never really present in my life, and I promised myself that my children would never have to face the same struggles I did,” he explained. “The song highlights the sacrifices, responsibilities, and silent battles that fathers face every day.”
One of the most emotional lines in the song states, “Mi promise mi self fi be di father weh mi father never be,” a reflection of the commitment he made to himself as a teenager.
Through the song, Ozarii hopes to encourage men to embrace their responsibilities and recognise the vital role fathers play in shaping families and communities.
The track also marks another collaboration with producer and publicist Ralston Barrett. The relationship began through social media discussions about books and personal development before evolving into a musical partnership.
“Big up, Rallo. He has genuinely encouraged me to keep pushing my music career,” Ozarii said.
Looking ahead, Ozarii plans to release several additional reggae, dancehall, and pop singles throughout the year as he continues to expand his catalogue and reach new audiences.
This Father’s Day, the artiste hopes his message resonates with fathers around the world.
“I want fathers everywhere to know that it’s okay not to have everything figured out,” he said. “No matter what challenges you face, keep showing up for your children. Your presence matters more than you know.”
