Romaine Beckford wins third high jump title
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Romaine Beckford won his third national men’s high jump title on Sunday after he cleared 2.25m on the final day of the JAAA national championships at the National Stadium.
Beckford, who is ranked joint fourth in the world with 2.30m, failed twice at 2.28m before he moved the bar to 2.31m but also failed to clear it.
Lushane Wilson was second with 2.20m and two-time world indoor medalist Raymond Richards was third with 2.15m.
Despiro Wray of Florida State won his first national title, taking the men’s shot put with 16.98m, beating Moses Parkinson-16.62m and Tio-Josh Mowatt who was third with 16.35m.
Elvis Graham won the men’s javelin throw with 69.99m, beating Zaavan Richards-67.54m and Santino Anglin-62.10m.
Laquay Harrison won the women’ javelin throw with 39.45m, beating Edwin Allen High’s Angel Robinson- 38.19m and Princess Dunn- 37.43m.
