Shanoya Douglas, Nathaniel Martin complete U20 doubles at national champs

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Nathaniel Martin of Jamaica College continued his giant killing act after he completed the boys under-20 sprint double on Sunday’s final day of the JAAA national championships by winning the 200m in a personal best 20.82 seconds (0.9m/s).

Martin had come out of the blue to win the 100m on Friday and proved on Sunday that it was not a fluke after he took the lead with 50 metres to go and got to the finish line first.

Holland High’s world under-20 leader Shanoya Douglas obliged the form books as she also completed the double.

Martin lowered his previous lifetime best from 21.13 seconds, as Kingston College’s Kyle Bodden also ran his best ever time of 21.00 seconds, edging out pre championships favourite Sanjay Seymore of William Knibb memorial- 21.01 seconds.

Douglas, the national under-20 record holder, appeared peerless as she cruised to victory in 22.56 seconds (0.3m/s). Sashana Johnson of Hydel High was second with 23.01 seconds and Wolmer’s Girls’ Natrece East repeated her third place from the 100m, with 23.07 seconds.
