Sir Don sweeps Viceroy Trophy as Nunes completes trifecta
In an electrifying performance, Sir Don swept all before him to lead an Anthony Nunes trifecta in the $1.75-million Viceroy Trophy feature at Caymanas Park on Saturday.
With Omar Walker aboard, Sir Don raced behind the early speed as stablemate Of A Revolution, ridden by Reyan Lewis, set the pace ahead of Pack Plays under Raddesh Roman.
Hugging the inside rail, Sir Don cut the corner entering the lane and unleashed a strong run in deep stretch on the inside rails to win the Graded Stakes/Open Allowance contest over five-and-a-half furlongs by one-and-a-quarter lengths.
Of A Revolution held second, while Neo Star with Jordan Barrett ran on for third. The final time was 1:05.20 (23.0 x 46.2 x 59.0) minutes.
The win gave Nunes his third winner on the 10-race card, following Bowmore, with Tajay Suckoo in Race four, and
Nebuchadnezzar with Eric Haughton in Race seven.
Also with three winners was champion jockey Raddesh Roman, aboard Round The Twist in the first race for trainer Alford Brown; Sir John in the third race for trainer Peter-John Parsard; and Digital One in the 10th and final event for trainer Gary Subratie.
The action continues with races on Saturday then Sunday.
