Shanti Ruben spreads message of love, unity through music
For more than three decades, roots reggae artiste Shanti Ruben has remained committed to using music as a force for positive change, spreading messages of love, unity and togetherness through his work.
Born Anthony Stanford Green in Kingston, Jamaica, to parents from St Elizabeth, Shanti Ruben was raised in the Cockburn Pen community of Kingston 11, where he developed a passion for music at an early age. Singing since the age of nine, he has dedicated the past 36 years to creating conscious reggae music that inspires, uplifts and educates.
A past student of Camperdown High School, Shanti Ruben credits reggae legends Peter Tosh, Bob Marley and Dennis Brown among his greatest influences. Their messages of consciousness, empowerment and cultural pride continue to shape his musical direction today.
“My mission is to spread love and togetherness through music,” Shanti Ruben said. “The world is facing many challenges, and I believe reggae still has the power to unite people and inspire positive change.”
Beyond recording and performing, the veteran entertainer is passionate about teaching music and mentoring young artistes, believing that nurturing the next generation is essential to preserving reggae’s rich cultural legacy.
Shanti Ruben is also closely involved with Lionstrong International Records, a label founded by himself and his manager. Alongside his work with Jeffaffa Sound, the label serves as a platform for authentic roots reggae and conscious music.
“Lionstrong International Records is more than a label; it is a movement dedicated to preserving the true spirit of reggae music. Through our work, we strive to create songs that uplift people, promote unity and carry positive messages to audiences around the world,” he said.
His latest single, World of Love, produced and released by Jeffaffa Sound on September 19, 2025, reflects that mission. The uplifting track encourages listeners to embrace love, compassion and unity during challenging times.
Shanti Ruben’s recording journey began with his debut single, Come On Jah Children, produced by Bull Wakkis and released on the Wakkis label. Over the years, he has shared musical space with the likes of countless respected reggae artistes including Sizzla, Jah Cure and Everton Blender.
With a new album scheduled for release later this year, Shanti Ruben is looking ahead while remaining true to the principles that have guided his career from the beginning. He remains committed to creating music that uplifts, educates and inspires, proving that conscious reggae continues to play an important role in promoting positivity and social change throughout the world.
