Dr Mullings Nelson declared JTA president-elect designate
KINGSTON, Jamaica–Dr Maureen Mullings Nelson, president of The Mico University College Staff Association, has been declared president-elect designate of the Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA).
This follows the 2026 JTA president-elect election held between June 15 and 19.
Mullings Nelson and Dr Darien Henry of Montego Bay Community College contested the election.
According to the JTA in a media release, a total of 11,275 votes were cast in the election, which was held using the face-to-face modality, with Dr Henry securing 3,947 votes and Dr Mullings Nelson securing 6967 votes.
It said Mullings Nelson will be officially proclaimed at the 62nd annual conference scheduled for August 17 – 19, 2026 at the Ocean Coral Spring, Trelawny.
