Craigy T to release Boodum Boodum featuring Marcy Chin
International dancehall artiste Craigy T is preparing to release the second single from his highly anticipated début album.
Titled Boodum Boodum featuring Marcy Chin, the summer-ready track is set for release on June 26, continuing the roll-out toward Craigy T’s début solo album, scheduled for release on August 7.
Following the success of the first single off the album, Craigy T is switching gears and bringing fans a different side of his artistry with Boodum Boodum — a vibrant dancehall track created with the ladies in mind.
“Boodum Boodum a the girl dem song fi di summer. We needed a solid representative for the baddies. Marcy is it!”Craigy T told the Jamaica Observer.
The track brings together a powerful creative team.
“We kinda sealed up the trinity for Boodum Boodum. It was produced by Kunley (Ward 21), myself, and Buccaneer also added some production flair,” the entertainer, whose given name is Craig Thompson, said.
Adding to the track’s dancehall appeal, Boodum Boodum features a sample from Boom Boom by dancehall giant General Degree, connecting the new release with the sounds and influences that helped shape the culture.
The collaboration with Marcy Chin was a natural fit for the energy Craigy T wanted to create, as the song embraces confidence, fun, and the vibrant spirit of dancehall.
The release follows Letter to the Lord, which introduced listeners to the deeper and more reflective side of Craigy T’s upcoming album. Since its release on May 21, the official music video has surpassed 172,000 views on
YouTube.
“Mi grow wid manners, y’nuh. Letter to the Lord was an introduction into how I think and the overall depth of the album. After dat, a time get the girls active,” he added.
The response to Letter to the Lord has also exceeded his expectations, with the artiste noting that the track successfully introduced audiences to his unique sound and flow.
“It has opened people’s ears to the Craigy T sound and flow. [It has] far exceeded my expectations. Remember, it was designed as an introduction. Didn’t expect it to trend like it did,” he said.
As fans anticipate the full album, Craigy T hopes both releases will connect with listeners in different ways. For
Letter to the Lord, his goal is for the song to reach anyone experiencing moments of reflection and uncertainty.
“I hope that Letter to the Lord can help even one person going through similar seasons where they question everything; life, love, even God himself.”
