Morgan announces $13-m helping hand for back-to-school

MEMBER of Parliament for Clarendon North Central Clarendon Robert Morgan has announced that he will be offering $13 million in educational assistance for students across the constituency for the 2026-2027 academic year.

According to Morgan, the programme will include $10 million through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), which will provide high school grants, tertiary education grants, book vouchers and other approved back-to-school support for eligible students

He said an additional $3 million will be provided by the Ministry of Education, Skills, Youth and Information under the Constituency Tertiary Tuition Grant programme.

“This assistance is intended to ease the financial pressure on parents and ensure that more of our young people are able to begin the new academic year with the support they need,” said Morgan.

“Education remains one of the most important investments we can make in the future of Clarendon North Central. Through the CDF and the Ministry of Education’s tertiary tuition programme, we are making $13 million available to support students and families across the constituency,” added Morgan.

He said registration will open on July 1 and close on July 14.

Applicants must be residents of North Central Clarendon and must be enrolled for the 2026-2027 academic year. Applications for tuition assistance must include a valid tuition or acceptance letter from the relevant school, college or university.

Under the Ministry of Education’s Constituency Tertiary Tuition Grant, eligible tertiary students may receive up to $100,000 per student, subject to verification and approval. Payments under that programme will be made directly to the approved tertiary institution.

Morgan encouraged parents and students to register early and submit all required information and supporting documents within the application period.

He said people interested in scholarship programmes may register or obtain further information by calling or sending a WhatsApp message to 876-832-1101, or by visiting the constituency office in Chapelton.
