St Catherine farmer charged in fatal pitchfork stabbing
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — A 36-year-old farmer has been charged after allegedly fatally stabbing a St Catherine truck driver with a pitchfork on Wednesday.
Charged with murder is Peter Fable, of Free Marlie, Bois Content, Old Harbour, St Catherine.
Reports from the Portmore Police are that about 10:06 pm Wednesday, 33-year-old truck driver Mario Newell was walking home when he was allegedly stopped by Fable, who instructed him to wait.
Fable reportedly left the area briefly before returning armed with a pitchfork, which he allegedly used to inflict multiple stab wounds to Newell’s upper body and face before fleeing the scene on foot.
Residents assisted Newell to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Following an investigation and a targeted police operation, Fable was apprehended and taken into custody.
He was subsequently charged with murder after giving a caution statement and participating in a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney.
His court date is being finalised.
