Alfred out of Commonwealth, CAC Games
CASTRIES, Saint Lucia (CMC) — Saint Lucia’s Olympic champion Julien Alfred will not compete in the upcoming Commonwealth Games or Central American and Caribbean Games (CAC).
Alfred, who won silver in Birmingham at the Commonwealth Games in 2023, was not named in either squad announced recently by the Saint Lucia Olympic Committee (SLOC).
The SLOC named a small three-member team for the Commonwealth Games, which will take place in Glasgow, Scotland, from July 23 to August 2.
Khailan Vitalis will compete in the men’s 110m hurdles, while Michael Joseph and Marvric Pamphile will compete in the men’s 400m.
Meanwhile, 26 athletes will represent the island at the CAC Games, scheduled to take place in the Dominican Republic, from July 24 to August 8.
Those athletes will compete in the disciplines of netball, boxing, weightlifting, golf, table tennis, track and field, and sailing.
