Trainer DaCosta celebrates birthday in style at Caymanas Park
TRAINER Jason DaCosta celebrated his 41st birthday in style at Caymanas Park on Saturday, saddling the top two finishers in the third running of the $1.25-million Donald Wehby Sr Memorial Trophy feature.
Miss MoneyPenny, ridden by Tevin Foster, defeated stablemate I Dream Again by 2½ lengths to take the Restricted Overnight Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward over five furlongs (1,000m) straight.
Miss MoneyPenny broke off well at the start and matched strides with Tapit Good (Shaheem Gordon) and My Sunshine (Romane Gordon). Crossing the dummy rails, she began to draw away from the field and held on in the end for her second victory of the season. Bob The Builder (Demar Williams) finished third. The final time was recorded at 1:00.1.
It was the second victory on the 10-race card for Foster who had earlier won aboard Money Box for owner-trainer Borris McIntosh in the fifth race.
Also with two winners were trainer Anthony Nunes and jockeys Jaheim Anderson, Reyan Lewis, and Tajay Suckoo.
Nunes’ winners were Walk The Plank (Lewis) and Tia Maria (Suckoo) in the sixth and seventh races, respectively. Lewis also won aboard D’Storm for trainer Patrick Lynch in the eighth race.
Suckoo won aboard Sky Is The Limit in the ninth race for trainer Peter-John Parsard for his two winners.
Anderson was successful aboard CasuallyYours for trainer Michael Marlowe and Solace for trainer Barrington Bernard in the second and third races, respectively. Racing is to continue next Saturday.
