Knife-wielding man gets 6 months
MONTEGO BAY, St James — A knife-wielding man, who threatened to kill a woman he blamed for a rocky relationship with the mother of his child, has been sentenced to six months’ imprisonment. The woman he threatened is the cousin of his child’s mother.
Fabian Fowler appeared before Judge Kaysha Grant-Pryce in the St James Parish Court on Wednesday, where the court heard details of the confrontation that led to him being charged for unlawful wounding.
The date of the incident was not disclosed, but the court was told that the complainant and her cousin were walking along a roadway when Fowler approached them with a knife in his hand. Fowler grabbed the complainant by the neck, dragged her along the road, and threatened to kill her. During the confrontation, he used the knife to cut her on the neck. The matter was reported to the police, leading to Fowler’s arrest and subsequent charge.
In court Wednesday, the court clerk explained that Fowler appeared to have held the complainant responsible for the difficulties in his relationship. In bringing the matter to a close, Judge Kaysha Grant-Pryce ordered that Fowler serve a six-month custodial sentence.
