Lisa Simone working on reggae album with Jah Screw

For some time, Lisa Simone pondered recording a reggae album, but wanted things to be right when she took the plunge. That came in late 2025 when she met producer Paul “Jah Screw” Love through a mutual friend.

Jah Screw, best known for his work with Barrington Levy, has guided her on a series of recording sessions that will result in her third album. That project is scheduled for release in 2027.

“We’re well into the production process. We’ve completed several recordings and we’re fine-tuning the songs to make sure every detail is right,” said Lisa Simone, who lives in South Florida. “We believe in taking our time so that when the music reaches the listeners, it represents the best of what we can offer.”

The Jah Screw production is entirely different from I Trust You, her previous album, which came out last year. That was a gospel collection, produced by her husband Damian Orlando, who has directed many of her recordings.

Jah Screw cut his teeth on sound systems during the 1970s in Greenwich Farm, his hometown. He moved into music production in the early 1980s, with Levy’s Under Mi Sensi, Here I Come and Living Dangerously (with Bounty Killer) his biggest songs.

Those credentials prompted the St Thomas-born Lisa Simone to work with him on a project she has envisioned for a long time.

“I love reggae because it’s my foundation, but I also enjoy gospel, lovers rock, R&B, soul, and inspirational music. Every genre allows me to express a different side of myself as an artiste,” she said. “As long as the song has substance and connects with people, I’m open to exploring different styles while staying true to who I am.”
