Market Bag: Bananas slide to $1,200, Tomatoes, $100; Kevin Downswell shares shopping tips
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Prices at Kingston’s Coronation Market are easing this week, with vendors reporting lower costs for several popular items despite ongoing drought conditions affecting farmers across multiple parishes.
While some produce, such as bananas ($1,200 per dozen) are still fetching higher prices, shoppers can expect lower prices on a range of goods including tomato at $100 per pound, onion ($200), Scotch bonnet pepper ($200), Irish potato ($180) and sweet potato ($150).
