APPRENTICE Tajay Suckoo enjoyed a good afternoon in saddle at Caymanas Park on Saturday, riding three winners on the 10-race card highlighted by victory in the $1.5-million Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame Stakes Trophy.

Tracking California Crown (Tevin Foster) throughout the 5½-furlong (1,100m) Open Allowance contest,
Desert of Malibu pounced in the closing stages of the race and dug deep to prevail by a half-length. California Crown finished second and Don Kwesi (Demar Williams) took third place. The final time was 1:10.2 (22.3 x 46.0 x 57.4).

Suckoo’s other winners were Run Julie Run and Mohanlal.

Run Julie Run made one move to win the $1.25-million Mark My Word Trophy by ½ length. The Peter-John Parsard trainer covered the 9 furlongs and 25 yards distance in 1:52.2.

Trained by Richard Azan, Mohanlal was an easy two-length winner of the Wayne DaCosta OD Trophy over one mile (1,600m) in a smooth 1:37.4.

Racing continues next Saturday with the return of the Diamond Mile.
