KINGSTON, Jamaica — National Under-20 record holders Gary Card and Shanoya Douglas have been named to contest their respective male and female sprint double at next month’s World Athletics Under-20 Championships to be held at Hayward Field, Eugene, Oregon.

Card, who broke the men’s Under-20 100m record at the JAAA National Championships in June, and Douglas, who broke the women’s Under-20 200m record twice this year, were included in the 43-member team that will compete in the championships to be held August 5-9.

Noticeably, only one female field event competitor was named in the team, discus thrower Able Mills, the Carifta Games double gold medallist.

No athletes were named for the high, long or triple jump or the shot put.

Douglas, who won the bronze medal in the 200m two years ago in Lima, Peru, is one of five athletes who will be making it back-to-back World Under-20 championships.

Gary Card, who was part of the gold medal-winning men’s 4x100m team two years ago, is back, as well as Theianna-Lee Terrelonge, Jabari Matheson and Nyrone Wade.

Jamaica won five medals two years ago in Lima, four gold and a bronze.
