WATCH: Man shot dead, another injured in Top Greenvale, Manchester

MANCHESTER, Jamaica — Two men were shot, one fatally, at a bar in the troubled community of Top Greenvale near Mandeville on Tuesday morning.

Police identified the dead man as Asagar Martin, a resident of Greenvale.

Preliminary reports are that about 12:30 am Martin was among patrons at a bar in Top Greenvale when a gunman pounced and opened fire hitting him and another man.

Both men were taken to hospital where Martin was pronounced dead on arrival while the other man was admitted for treatment.

Police said Martin was on bail for the March 2017 murder of 40-year-old William Granville in Nashville, Mandeville. Granville was stabbed to death near a nightclub in that incident.

The Top Greenvale incident on Tuesday follows Saturday’s double murder of Greenvale resident Sadefa Henry and Heartease resident Deenekia Pounall in a taxi at Horseshoe Curve on Caledonia Road in Mandeville.

The latest incident has increased the number of murders recorded in Manchester to 22 so far this year.
