For Shawn Storm, Saturday night’s performance at A Taste of Reggae Sumfest was more than just another booking; it was the culmination of years of anticipation.

Judging by the reception inside Plantation Cove, St Ann, his fans were just as eager to see him perform. And he delivered a memorable set.

The deejay was greeted by a sea of eager fans, who sang along to his catalogue.

According to the entertainer, the response of the crowd confirmed that his fan base has been waiting for his return to the Sumfest stage.

“It was crazy. People were very receptive and engaging,” Shawn Storm told the Jamaica Observer after leaving the stage. “They’ve been waiting to see Shawn Storm on the Sumfest stage again, so it was a good look. The crowd really loved the performance.”

Still basking in the moment, the entertainer admitted it was difficult to put his emotions into words.

“I can’t tell you what this moment means to me. I’m living in my glory days now, and it’s a blessing being here,” he said.

The performance comes at a time when Shawn Storm is also celebrating fresh success in the studio. He recently released a seven-track EP, Growth, a project he says has already made an impressive impact with listeners overseas.

“We just dropped an EP called Growth that went #1 on several platforms. Big up the US streamers and the UK streamers weh make it happen,” he said. “It was produced by my bredrin in the US and it’s seven new tracks for people to enjoy, so people need to check that out.”

While the Sumfest performance marked a significant personal milestone, Shawn Storm believes the momentum surrounding the reunited Gaza and Gully camps is only beginning. With international dates expected to follow the historic reunion performances, he anticipates the production growing even bigger as it reaches audiences abroad.

“This tour will go places,” he said. “Mi glad fi see the general dem a do dem thing, and mi know when dem take this worldwide, it ago be just as mad. I hear it will be massive. I hear shows will happen in Malta, Germany, and nuff more countries.”

As the Gully/Gaza movement prepares to take its next chapter, the deejay is embracing both the moment and the momentum, convinced the best is yet to come.
